Becoming Catholic

OCIA stands for the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. This is a class for those interested in learning more about the Catholic faith and being confirmed into the Catholic Church. OCIA is held in Newman Hall every Tuesday from 7:30-9:00 PM and is open to anyone seeking to learn more. Please contact usdassist1@usdnewman.org with formal inquiries about this process.

OCIA is a program where individuals will learn more about the teachings, traditions, and beliefs of the Catholic Church, grow their relationship with Jesus Christ, discuss questions, and prepare for their Confirmation day. Full Christian Initiation refers to receiving the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist.

Our OCIA Confirmation Mass will occur April 19th at 9:30 AM in the chapel. We look forward to welcoming over 30 confirmands into the Catholic Church this spring!
